Overview:
Shark cartilage is a food supplement made from the powdered cartilage of sharks. It is loaded in calcium and phosphorous, and contains amino acid compounds that seemly inhibit cellular angiogenesis—the ability to create new blood vessels. Also included in shark cartilage is chondroitin sulfate, which contains anti-inflammatory properties. The effectiveness of taking shark-cartilage orally is questioned by many doctors who feel its active ingredient may be destroyed during digestion, thus not allowing it to enter the blood stream. Some chemicals contained in Shark cartilage include: Amino acids (some), calcium, mucopolysaccharides, phosphorus, and protein.
